Vividus – The Most Luxurious Bed In The World From Hästens
The ‘Vividus’ from Hästens is the world’s most luxurious bed, taking between 140 to 160 hours to build completely by hand using the finest natural materials. Hästens have been making beds for 150 years in Sweden and have combined the skills of five generations of master bed builders to create a bed that is unequalled in comfort and renowned world over as the ‘bed of your dreams’.
The Vividus embodies Hästens knowledge and unparalleled expertise combining traditional craftsmanship with the latest spring technology. Taking two years to develop, the Vividus is custom built to the owners’ preferences by a team of eight of Hästens most experienced craftsmen for the perfect nights sleep. Age old techniques guarantee the attention to detail and high quality that a machine cannot reproduce. In fact, Hästens are so proud of their work that every Vividus bears the signature of the master craftsman who built the bed.
The Vividus is made up of three main sections including a spring base, a spring mattress layered with natural materials and a top mattress for even greater softness. A carefully balanced blend of non-allergenic horsehair, cotton, flax and wool make up the natural fibres which allow the bed to breathe, making it ideal for regulating body temperature and using natural defences against moisture produced when we sleep.
The finest quality solid pine for the bed frames is sourced from slow growing plantations in Northern Sweden where the harsh and cold conditions give the wood maximum strength and durability. The foundation of the Vividus frame is made even stronger with Dovetail joints, a traditional technique which makes the frame strong without the need for a single screw or nail. To attain maximum stability the wooden slats set in the frame are individually placed in a groove and secured with wood plugs. It takes an experienced Hästens bed builder one full week to make the Vividus frame.
The inside of the frame is then lined with flax as a natural insulator and to help reduce the build-up of static energy; the bottom-section Bonell spring system is then put into place. Each of the springs are positioned by hand and joined together with durable thread to add extra comfort to the bed. Flax is also layered between the springs to eliminate noise and increase durability.
Hästens patented spring system allows each spring to move independently in individual pockets to absorb energy and movement, giving perfect support and reducing movement. Special heat treatment of the steel ensures that the springs retain their form and return to their original shape after compression. This technology means that the Vividus is softer, more comfortable and more pliable. The flexible system gives a feeling of softness and deep support at the same time, with the springs working with the body and following
the contours of the posture to give the necessary support and a sense of weightlessness whilst sleeping.
The Vividus is available with soft, medium or firm springs for varying sleep preferences and can be made to order in any custom size requested. The finest quality cotton, cut and stitched by hand, is used to upholster the bed and is available in Hästens trademark cotton check in a wide selection of colours. All of Hästens’ beds are built to last and are guaranteed for 25 years, however in most cases they will last for considerably longer.
