Desperate for that elusive good night’s sleep? It’s not that far away . . . in fact, it’s just down the King's Road.
Brent Cooper, owner of Hästens Store King's Road is a sleep expert - helping transform the lives of people who suffer from poor sleep.
- Question – My partner and I struggle to find a bed that suits us both – what should I do?
- Answer – Buy a bed that is built using two different spring tensions, with, for example, one side in medium and another in soft. Every Hästens bed is handcrafted by experts with both sides built to a tension specific to person using it.
- Question – How long should a bed last?
- Answer – Some manufacturers recommend changing your bed every 10 years. Hästens use top mattresses that are replaceable in this time scale, allowing the main body of the bed to be constructed to last much longer.
- Question – How much should a good bed cost?
- Answer – It is really a matter of how much good sleep is worth to you? People don’t flinch at spending £30,000 on a car which they will use for one or two hours a day and then discard after five years, but it when it comes to their bed, which they use for on average eight hours every day, they are often reluctant to pay for the quality which will afford them proper restorative sleep. At Hästens Store Kings Road all of our beds carry a 25-year guarantee and we offer continued post-purchase customer support.
- Question – I suffer with a bad back and have been told I must buy a firm bed, is this true?
- Answer – The short answer is “no”. A lot of back, shoulder and neck pain is caused by sleeping in a bed that is not supporting you for one reason or another. The best thing to do is to get a sleep consultation from a bed specialist who can guide you towards the correct spring tension for your weight, age, frame and lifestyle.
- Question – I get disturbed by my partner when they move at night – can the right bed solve this problem?
- Answer – Getting a bed that provides correct support for the people sleeping on it will cut down on movement. If your body is not being put under stress by providing the support that the bed should be providing, you will not have all of the involuntary movements caused by a need to relieve tired muscles. A bigger bed can also help in this – the more room you have as your own personal sleeping area the better when it comes to not being disturbed.
- Question – I want an eco-friendly bed but I’m concerned all the natural products will make it too warm?
- Answer – Natural materials are crucial when it comes to temperature regulation in a bed. Man-made foams or chemically treated substances block ventilation and insulate the sleeper, making them very warm. A person’s body temperature needs to drop during certain times of the sleep cycle. Natural materials allow ventilation which evaporates body moisture from the bed, which increases the hygiene and comfort of your sleeping environment.
